About Wavelength Designs

Wavelength Designs was established in Hamble in 1991 by Graham Scott with the aim of manufacturing and supplying the best sails, masts and equipment for singlehanded racing dinghies.

Graham felt that singlehanded classes had been neglected in terms of mast and sail development and were being fobbed off with left-over designs from the more popular two-man boats. His vision for Wavelength was to focus sharply on a few una-rig classes, and design and produce sail and mast combinations that really worked together.

Using his vast experience of racing and making sails for classes like Finn, OK, Contender, Solo, Sailboards and Laser, his Wavelength designs were winning national championships within a year.

Many successes followed , both for Graham and Wavelength products, including many World, European, and National Championships.

During this time the business has been intentionally expanded slowly in order to maintain the quality of the products and the personalised service given to customers. Many accessory lines have been developed and are supplied to most of the main dinghy manufacturers.

In July 2000 Wavelength Designs moved from Hamble to Callington in Cornwall, and subsequently at the end of 2005 to a new industrial unit in Saltash, enabling Graham to continue to develop the company and its range.

At present Wavelength sails can be seen at the front of Contender fleets around the world. Continual development and first class service have ensured the sails remain the first choice of all recent Contender world champions.
